      ( चित्रकार श्री. रवी देव यांनी काढलेले चित्र म.ए.सो.च्या संकेतस्थळावरून साभार)          'कथा दोन गणपतरावांची' नावाचा एक चित्रपट काही वर्षांपूर्वी येऊन गेला. दिलीप प्रभावळकर, मोहन आगाशे या ज्येष्ठ आणि इतर अभिनेत्यांनी यात काम केले आहे. या चित्रपटात दिलीप प्रभावळकर यांनी जे पात्र साकारले आहे ते गणपतराव स्वतःच्या आयुष्यात घडणाऱ्या सर्व गोष्टींची नोंद ठेवत असतात. पण भारताच्या प्राचीन इतिहासाबाबत एक सर्वसाधारण विधान करायचे झाले तर आपल्याकडे इतिहासाच्या अचूक आणि तपशीलवार नोंदी फारशा आढळत नाहीत. त्यामुळे ऐतिहासिक सत्य काय याबाबत स्पष्ट भूमिका काही बाबतीत घेता येत नाही. ऐतिहासिक पुरावे, छायाचित्रे, इ. मिळवण्यासाठी खूप खटपट करावी लागते. आद्य क्रांतिवीर वासुदेव बळवंत यांचे ऐतिहासिक छायाचित्र कसे मिळाले याची गोष्ट या लेखात दिली आहे.      ऐतिहासिक नोंदी ठेवण्याबाबत इंग्रजांकडून शिकण्यासारखे आहे. यातील दोन अनुभव सांगतो. आमच्या म.ए.सो.आबासाहेब गरवारे महाविद्यालय (१९७२पूर्वीचे म.ए.सो.कला आणि विज्ञान महाविद्यालय) आणि वसतिगृहाचे माजी विद्...
